Energy saving
There is a common
misconception that screen savers reduce energy use by monitors; they do not. Automatic switching to sleep mode or manually turning monitors off is always the better energy-saving strategy.
Make sure that bulbs,
fixtures, lenses, lamps and reflective surfaces are cleaned regularly. By removing grease, dust and other dirt, you can increase the output of your lights.
Always remind others to turn out the lights and turn off equipment when they leave.
If your company's
computers are on a network and you can't shut them off at night, be sure to turn off your monitor. When counted together, computer monitors use more
energy than any other piece of office equipment.
Share electronic files, voicemail and e-mail with office mates instead of creating paper memos.
Do not print out copies of email unless necessary. Review your document on the screen instead of printing a draft. Using less paper also saves energy because it takes 10 times more energy to manufacture a piece of paper than it does to copy an image onto it.
Use scrap paper to take notes instead of using notebooks, company pads, or message pads.
COMPUTER
Do not turn on the
printer until you are ready to print Printers consume energy even while theyre idling
LIGHTING
If you spend a lot of time working on a computer, consider reducing the overall brightness level in your room to enhance screen visibility
COMPUTER
If your computer is going to be inactive for more than 16 minutes, consider turning it off. After 16 minutes, the energy needed to run the computer outweighs the start-up energy. A modest amount of turning equipment on and off will not harm the computer. The life of a monitor is related to the amount of time it is in use, not the number of start and stop cycles.
LIGHTING
Consider using desk lamps (so-called "task lighting") and reducing the overall
brightness in the room. In addition to saving energy, this change can sometimes result in a more restful and comfortable environment in which to work.
CLIMATE CONTROL
Change or clean air filters on your cooling/heating unit regularly. These should be changed or cleaned at least once a month. Replacing or cleaning a dirty air filter can save money by reducing the amount of electricity needed to operate your compressors
LIGHTING
Leave only minimal lighting on during non-business hours if necessary for safety.
COMPUTER
Make sure your computer is set-up to revert to a sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity.
LIGHTING
Turn off the lights in offices or restrooms when the rooms are not being occupied. The energy saved by doing so will far outweigh the slight reduction in lamp life
COMPUTER
Wait until you are ready to use the Computer before you turn it on. Try to plan your computer-related activities so you can do them all at once, keeping the computer off at other times.
Reduce lighting where possible and take advantage of natural daylight. Turning lights off or dimming them during the day allows for lower energy costs and a more comfortable environment. Also, remove excess lighting, and turn off signage and other lights not necessary for security and safety.
Install programmable thermostats or time clocks to automatically control temperature settings on heating and air conditioning equipment.
POWER CONSUMTION EQUIPMENT
Printers, especially laser, consume energy even when not in use. Make sure they are programmed to revert to a sleep mode after 20 minutes of inactivity.
POWER CONSUMTION EQUIPMENT
Make sure coffee pots are turned off when not in use, heating stale coffee wastes a tremendous amount of power. Some types of coffee pots keep water hot in a reservoir; turn off these types completely overnight and especially on weekends.
Some of ideas is very closed with us but we might forget, carless, ignore, misconduct therefore i may mention alternative acknowledge as like our mind, sometimes we can catch up and sometimes we cannot because we are busy and delt with others operation. We can forgotten above my mention and things are really important note, but on the other hand this is small matter, anyway I would like to remind and advise especially for "ENERGY SAVING".
To succeed, we must first believe that we can.
Much appreciate of your article of "Turn Off the Lights...Turn on the Savings".
